"I'm Marie, recovering perfectionist, procrastinator and self doubter!

Diagnosed with depression 7yrs ago after finding it increasingly difficult to spin all my plates – parent, professional, colleague, friend, sister, daughter. I recall constantly feeling like I was flapping underneath as pressure mounted it manifested in chronic list making and colour coding!

​

I'd always considered myself to be strong and had overcome so many challenges before but this felt like my darkest hour. I never thought I'd ever emerge from that black hole. At times it felt like my mind shutting down. The exhaustion felt suffocating. I questioned whether I’d ever come back from it. My underlying fear that I was broken and couldn’t be fixed. I felt weak and vulnerable.

The wellness road has been a journey of self-discovery and acceptance – meditation has helped me find peace of mind and clarity of thought. It has given me the space to just be me – to own my flaws and not crave perfection. I still have my down days but find that I'm more reflective and recognise when I need to prioritise my own wellbeing - whether that's going for a walk or eating better.
